Welcome to the Victorian edition of
National Indian Film Festival of Australia
Australia’s first and only national celebration of Indian cinema returns in 2026 with an expanded National program and historic regional footprint. We are overwhelmed by your inspirational support which has resulted in NIFFA 2026 being the world biggest national Indian film festival outside India 13+ Cities 38+ films in Official Selection in 18 different Indian language and all screenings being Australian, International, or World Premiers.
We thank the film makers and the industry along with important organisations like NFDC the festival will present more that 38 films in 18 different language as a part of its official selection. All films in the official selection will screen as Australian, International, or World Premiers. We thank the film makers who have entrusted NIFFA with huge responsibility of presenting their work to Australian audience.
True to its spirit as a festival for filmmakers, by filmmakers, and of filmmakers, NIFFA has also curated a vibrant program of red carpets, special event screenings, panel discussions, and industry conversations designed to celebrate cinema while fostering meaningful dialogue
Victoria is special place in my own journey as a film maker. Some of my earliest Bollywood projects were filmed in regional Victoria . Since March 1998 I have had the privilege of bringing a significant number of Indian screen productions to the state, representing one of the largest combined investments by the Indian screen industry into Victoria and regional Victoria. It is therefore an honour to launch the National program with support of Geelong City Council and the Mayor Hosting the first opening night of the NIFFA 2026 program.
We are also delighted to present a special teaser screening of my film The Run at Federation Square on 22 June, made possible through the generous support of the Melbourne Arts Precinct and its welcoming leadership team under Katrina Sedgwick. This preview offers audiences an early glimpse of the cinematic experiences NIFFA brings to Australia each year. The festival will then return to Melbourne for the full NIFFA Melbourne edition on 18 Jun.
NIFFA 2026 is more than a film festival now. It is an Australian national platform for diverse, inclusive, and robust discussions around Cinema, Culture, Community, and Commerce between Australia and India . It is your platform. As an Australian, please use it as your benevolent tool for cultural harmony and enrichment of our diverse Australian culture particularly our screen culture.
See you at the theatres.
