CasteGate: The Untold Story

Director: Vikram Mishra

Duration: 1 hr 29 mins 44 secs

Language: English

Synopsis: CasteGate: The Untold Story focuses on themes of justice and accountability, highlighting how false narratives can undermine civil liberties. The film features interviews and evidence that reveal hidden hate within progressive rhetoric, the role of media and academia, and the impact of bureaucratic abuse on individuals.

In 2020, California’s Civil Rights Department (CRD), influenced by a group called “Equality Labs,” filed a lawsuit against tech entrepreneurs Sundar Iyer, Ramana Kompella, and Cisco Systems. Instead of seeking justice, the CRD made unfounded claims against Hindu Americans, which led to damaging stereotypes and the introduction of SB 403, legislation promoting bias.

In April 2024, a judge dismissed the case due to misconduct by the CRD, and SB 403 was not enacted by Governor Gavin Newsom. This situation illustrates a troubling trend of targeting individuals through misinformation and the failure of institutions to seek the truth. CasteGate serves as a documentary record that calls for addressing institutional misconduct and defending democratic principles.

Oslo: A Tail of Promise

Director: Isha Pungaliya

Duration: 1 hr 26 mins

Language: English, Hindi, Marathi

Synopsis: When Oslo, a wise Siberian Husky finds Pooja, a woman in search of belonging, an extraordinary journey of love, courage, and surrender begins. Set in India, against a breathtaking journey from Pune to the Himalayas, this Tail of Promise spans lifetimes.

Oslo, traumatised, nameless, and homeless, changed six homes before finding his pack among cats, goats, peacocks, and people at The Farm. A sacred space itself, The Farm is a reminder that animals and nature are sentient. They bring magic into our lives if we are willing to open our hearts.

Oslo and Pooja’s annual trip of 5000 kms is a journey of promise, courage and companionship. During one trip, the illness of Mahua, a pack member of The Farm, brings to fore the balance between the soul’s purpose and the soul’s promise. Animals experience loss and grief as well but they show us how to surrender to love without attachment.

Through blizzards, grief, and joy, Oslo remains a guardian and master, reminding us to choose love over fear. The film celebrates the gift animals and nature offer humanity.
